The Grade Nine program at Rockland District High School is aimed at providing a balanced overview of high school courses so that students can make informed decisions when selecting courses in Grade 10, 11 and 12. It also offers eight of the eighteen compulsory courses required for graduation.
In the 2019 – 2020 school year, Grade 9 students at Rockland District High School are expected to accumulate eight (8) credits.
Each Grade 9 student will enrol in the following six (6) compulsory subjects:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Core French or Extended French
- Geography or Géographie
- Health and Physical Education
As well, each Grade 9 student will take TWO (2) of the following courses depending on availability:
- Integrated Arts
- Exploring Technologies
- Introduction to Information Technology in Business
- Learning Strategies Skills for Success in Secondary School
(Student placement in the Learning Strategies course is determined by a school committee with input from parents and teachers from Grade 8)
