CO-OP Cooperative Education
Cooperative Education (Co-op) is a program that allows Grade 11 and 12 students to earn credits upon completion of a work placement in the community. The in-school portion and the work placement allow students to gain valuable learning experiences that help prepare them for post-secondary life, at college or university, apprenticeship training or direct entry to the workplace. Co-op placements are arranged by the Co-op teachers and follow Ministry of Education Policies. Co-op students are ambassadors of Rockland District High School in the community and thus placement in Co-op is at the discretion of the administration and Co-op teachers.
Co-op gives students the opportunity to:
- “try out” a career of interest;
- gain valuable work experience to help build their resume;
- develop essential skills and work habits;
- experience authentic learning outside a traditional classroom setting.
